Our Wedding Story:

I'm sending this story a few months early because we are so excited about our upcoming wedding. We met and began our 36 year relationship in 1968, when homosexuality was still a criminal offence. In those days we never dreamed that we would ever marry in our lifetime.
We were also one of the eight couples who were litigants in the B.C. equal marriage case. It is difficult to explain the emotions we felt on May 1, 2003, when the B.C. Court of Appeal ruled that the government could no longer discriminate against same-sex couples and must allow us to marry.
We met some fine people during our battle for equal rights, and expect many of them to attend our wedding.
We will marry at Ryerson United Church in Vancouver, on July 17th. Our reception will follow at the Law Courts Inn, which is in the very building where the Courts granted us our right to marry.
We look forward to the day when our friends in the United States will also have all the rights we now enjoy.
